Great vibe at the PING mtg in Yeovil this morning, gave a 10min presentation on Funeral Celebrant part of my business. Seemed to go across well.

Then it was back to meet up with my sister before she left to back home to Wales. Then messed about with some Alto active speakers with my mate Alex.

Off to Southampton this afternoon with Charlene on a bit of business, then a nice pizza at West Quay and then home sweet home.

Fun but painful weekend ! #li

Saturday started off with me helping my partner Charlene with a wedding photoshoot for Cheryl and Steve at Westlands in Yeovil.

Had a great time at Emily and Rob's wedding at the fabulous Ston Easton venue nr Bristol on Saturday. Only problem was that my blinking Achilles tendon flared up again so I was in pain and hobbling around the place!

Still in pain when I went to do small karaoke gig at The Butchers Arms in Yeovil. Bit quiet due to football, weather etc but still had some fun!

All in all a good weekend. Just wish I could sort this Achilles problem out!!

Have to deliver a Funeral script to a client first thing and then I am off to Earls Court to meet up the the DJ Business channel team at PLASA.

PLASA is an international expo for all things disco, theatre, concert halls etc and is one of the highlights of the year and a great networking opportunity. You get to see the latest products, attend seminars and discuss the business with the people in the know.

Really looking forward to networking with the DJ business team as they have fantastic contacts in the industry.

Memorial golf day #li

Established way back in the early nineties the Abbeyhill golf day attracted over 60 golfers to Wheathill Golf Club yesterday. After a good days golf there was the presentation of prizes and I was honoured when asked to present a trophy in honour to the memory of my brother Nigel, a former MD of Abbeyhill who sadly passed away last year.

I was accompanied by my partner Charlene, some good friends Sarah and Crispin and my eldest sister Sandra and her sons Adrian and Neil. I choked a bit on my speech but we had a lovely meal and it was great seeing some of the old faces that have been connected with Abbeyhill over the years.

Bring on next year!

Local issues. Red tape grrrrr! #li

Earlier this year I was honoured when asked to chair the meeting of a networking group of DJs and a new branch of NADJ. The good news is that at our last mtg we had 40 DJs attend.

The downside is that due to a heated debate going on re, what else Money! Some people did not hear a couple of votes taken correctly which then instead of requesting a local meeting with myself and the secretary to sort it out, immediately started proceedings for an EGM!

There was no need for this in my humble opinion but having requested the EGM we now have to do things ' by the book' and run the risk of alienating 60% of the people who actually turn up and contribute to the group dynamics.

I for one am now questioning whether I want to continue investing in this group as to be quite honest I became a self employed DJ so that I would not have to put up with ' office politics '.

I am going to continue networking with other DJs as I believe that is how we can educate each other and the public on how to value the work we do correctly. Not sure at the moment whether I want to serve on a committee though.

Ok, that's off my chest!

Two weddings on Saturday, first as a Toastmaster for Jon and Aimee at Halswell House in Goathurst, lovely venue, nice people = great time! Then down to Westlands Yeovil to DJ at Peter and Carly's wedding. Again lovely couple and friends who enjoyed a Chicago Rock style party set!! Lol!

Big thank you to all who attended last nights meeting. Good lively meeting with lots of ideas coming out as to how the members want to see the group move forward.
Graham Watts has agreed to take on a trial role as membership officer for North Somerset which will involve spreading the word about our group and inviting new DJ's along so that the lifeblood of the group, the membership keeps fresh and growing.
Really pleased with the response to the education slot idea and the visit to Batmink in October. More news on these to follow.
Thanks to Simon Fletcher and John Tingeley for offering their services for education slots.
I am feeling really confident that we ate getting closer to the goal of producing fun, educational and meaningful meetings that help local DJs grow their business whilst improving the professionalism of our industry.

BP was 126/80 today, don't know if I can get used to this normal BP lark! Used to scaring Doctors when they take mine!

On a serious note though, my lifestyle changes, including those forced upon me must be having a good effect. Think about how your work/stress levels could be reduced ok?

Thank to everyone for your kind words and thoughts. I had forgotten that Billy had met so many of you.

Although he was crazy and could be a right pain, Billy has left a big hole in the house and Charlene, Cris and I are finding it very quiet and strange. We keep looking around and expecting him to be there.
